A Day with Paige

Poor Paige! She had a horrible stomach virus that left her miserable for days. We have had to cancel everything and she had a full social calendar these last few days. She finally turned a corner yesterday afternoon and joined the land of the living. She spent 2 days and 3 nights laying on the love seat bed in my room and only coming out once in that period. Pitiful is the best word to describe it.

Needless to say today had another event on the calendar one that she was really upset to miss. My mother in law had arranged a lunch with former co-workers that knew Bill when he was a brand new baby. They had not seen him or his sister in years and being the proud Mimi, she was so excited to show her children and grandchildren off! I was looking forward to meeting everyone and visiting. There was no way that Paige could go. She successfully ate her first food at midnight last night and still looked pretty ragged. She was going to miss playing with her cousins at Mimi's all day and going to lunch.

The tears silently rolled down her cheeks when she discovered she would be staying home. My heart was breaking for her yet also glad to see she was hydrated enough to make tears! I told her we would have the day to ourselves, just the two of us. We struggle to find time to take one child on an errand to give them some individual attention, an entire day is like striking gold!

Laying on her sick bed she had made Christmas cards for everyone and the longer she laid around the more she felt the need to also give gifts. So, remember the pitiful part, I was out last night shopping for Paige's gift list! Lindy was at the top of her list, the one she was most concerned about, definitely that twin connection coming through. After a few stops and multiple calls home to discuss what was in stock her shopping was completed!

Getting up today and feeling much better she was looking forward to the day - and so was I.

We wrapped every one of her presents and mine. She loved getting a sneak peak at what we got her siblings.

The annual family calendar - hot
off the press! The cover is a secret!

We read books off and on all day!

She helped me clean and get ready for Christmas eve. She worked on her Grommy's Christmas gift. She helped make pecans (recipe to follow!). She planned a "hot chocolate" party to have with one of her friends and Lindy. She started working on the games they would be playing.

When I gave her a bath tonight she said she had the best day with me. Although we missed out on a fun family day, we created some wonderful memories together, just the two of us!

I don't know how I missed this when you first posted it three years ago, but it is so cute! Paige is so cute and fun now, but it's cool to be reminded that she's always been that way!!!
