It's All About Family

Ferrying over to the park.

We all had a great time at Disney and one of the kids favorite things about the week was having Bill with us all week and being with our Grommy and Mimi. Having never taken a vacation with any family the adult/child ratio threw me for a loop! I wasn't always counting heads and keeping track of little people and I count Kyle in the adult category so the adults overruled. I see so much more travel in the future with everyone getting so much more out of the experiences.

One of the best things about the week was that the kids had some special time with their grandmothers. Ethan and Mimi ran to the deli and grabbed lunch one day. Erin got to go on rides with Mimi and Grommy by herself. Kyle joined in the late night adult conversations. Lindy had Grommy to keep her company on one of her sick days. Bill and I were able to enjoy a dinner out one night. My mom and Gloria kept the laundry and dishwasher going so I even had a break from chores!

Lindy was sick with fever, sore throat, cough and general misery all week. She was a trooper and didn't want to miss out on anything. There was one day where it was just not going to be possible for her to go to the park and unfortunately it was the last day. When we arrived at the park Kyle asked why we had come if Lindy couldn't join us. Ethan said he wondered the same thing. Paige of course always worries when her other half is not with her! I explained with five kids someone is bound to be sick or unable to go some of the time. We were fortunate to have Grommy and Mimi to help us out so we could take turns staying with her. Kyle said it just didn't feel right not all being together. The kids loved going to the park that last day but really missed having the whole family together.

Kyle had a writing assignment when we returned home that he wrote about how much fun he had on vacation with his family. How he was so concerned about Lindy and her missing out on fun. Yes he loved the roller coasters, but it was all being together he treasured the most. It really doesn't matter where we go or what we do as long as we do it together.

This was when we arrived before Lindy spiked her fever for the week.

Kyle with Lindy and Grommy following behind on the Racetrack. Erin was my driver!

Sometimes I look at pictures of Kyle and still see his "little boy" face. This is such a sweet picture!

Ready to take a ride on Aladdin's Magic Flying Carpets. Erin was on the lookout for Jasmine!

I think we spun Mimi out on the teacups.

A long day but fun and happy kids.

Erin loves to get her picture taken so when she had Mimi and Grommy to herself she was busy planning poses.

You can bet that Grommy loved being with everyone, too! Just what I always hoped the grommy days would be. Hope the lower limbs hold up for future events. And what sweet travelers to be with--even when not feeling well, no one was ever grumpy or resentful about not being able to participate. How beautifully caring these sibs are of one another. Love, Grommy
