Historic Uniforms
In honor of the 100 year anniversary of Girl Scouts, the Ohio State University Textile and Fashion College is hosting an exhibit on the Girl Scout uniforms. The girls and I went to see the exhibit over our mini spring break.
It was so much fun! There was a guide book we were able to read as we went along. Our little fashionista, Erin, was thrilled to learn some of her Project Runway terminology. She has been wanting to see an example of an A line dress and she was able to see one up close.
There was also a scavenger hunt that went along with the little tour which was really fun and kept everyone intersted.
We are loving the special 100 year treats!

Cookie Booth
The girls had an awesome cookie booth drive thru last weekend. The weather was incredible, warm, sunny, and no rain! They sold 200 boxes and had a great time! Our cookie sale has been a huge success this year, with well over 2000 boxes sold. Final count is still being tabulated but I think the girls will be very pleased!

Cookie Walk About
The Girl Scouts participated in the Cookie Walk about last weekend. Girl Scouts is promoting things from the past and getting together as a group and selling cookies from our wagons is much like girls did years ago.
The juniors were ambitious in what they wanted to do.Having won 3rd place last year in the contest based on the pictures we sent it, they wanted to win again. We pulled most of it together. We were short about 40 balloons, but since they wanted 100 I think we did pretty good! They had posters, face paint, tattoos, streamers, and tons of enthusiasm! Best of all they had a great time together!

Cookies!
Filled to the brim! Cookies have arrived and we are out selling at our cookie booths this month. Erin is definitely a hard core sales person. She does not let anyone go buy without flashing her dimples and selling them a box of cookies. Sales are definitely in the future for her!

Bowling with Friends
Beginning last fall the Junior Girl Scouts started visiting a local nursing home. The girls have enjoyed dressing up for Halloween, have put on a talent show, gone on a scavenger hunt, and last week went bowling with the residents.
They had a ball (no pun intended!) setting up pins and taking turns bowling with the residents. It was a perfect activity for everyone! We enjoyed cookies and slushies, spreading some cheer on a gloomy day to our new friends.

Girl Scouts Cookin Up Fun
The Junior Girl Scouts have been busy in January! Thanks to Mary's mom, who has tons of cooking experience and teaches cooking classes, we had our own lesson and made a Mexican style meal.
The girls made tortillas filled with meat and cheeses, chicken tortilla soup, key lime pies, and a special drink. Everyone was able to participate in making the meal and they definitely enjoyed eating it!
Juicing the lime for the key lime pies.
Soup instruction
I am so grateful that the girls all include Erin in their meetings. She has been a part of the group since she was a baby. Lily took Erin under her wing for the afternoon helping her cook and making sure she could see everything!
Yum!
A quick lesson on density to make this drink. Hawaiian Punch, then Gatorade, finished off with diet 7up poured over ice, how pretty!
Cheers!

What To Do With A Girl Scout Cookie
Samoa Cupcake
I found so many recipes and had pinned these. They turned out great!
The Samoa one has coconut extract in the batter and is so good. The Tagalong had coffee in the batter and the best part of that one is the Tagalong cookie in the bottom of the cupcake liner. It's like a little surprise when you take a bite. The girls loved them and took the extras home.
Here are the links for the recipes. Remember to order extra cookies for your baking needs! We have plenty of cookie salesgirls here so feel free to contact us if you need to stock up!
