Erin's Preschool

Field Trip Day! I signed Erin up for the Little Explorers Tour of Giant Eagle. This is through our Parks and Rec Department for Preschoolers. We went to the Post Office in October and she was really looking forward to today. With Kyle holding down the fort for an hour we were off to learn about how the grocery store runs.

We began by receiving grocery bags and started our tour in the produce section. We met the manager who talked about setting up the fruit and vegetables. Erin was thrilled when they started filling her bag! She got an apple, banana, orange, clementine, and an Asian Pear. Moms got bags too and they filled ours as well. We left with some serious groceries!

On to the cereal aisle where we talked about healthy breakfasts and how Erin does not like Oatmeal. They kids already had a little box of cereal in their bags.

Walking through the Dairy and we hit two of Erin's favorites, cheese and yogurt. She is quickly becoming the Dairy Queen in training from Lindy.

A quick stop to check out the lobsters and then we were in the deli. The manager talked to the kids about how the meat and cheese come in and showed them how big the hams were. She showed them where they are sliced and how they look when we buy them. Of course we had a treat. Cheese and bologna which she loved her cheese slice.

And last but not least, mommy's favorite, the bakery. We saw the staff decorating pies with sprinkles and cherries. Cake samples were handed out and finished off with cookies. Erin was in heaven.

She had a great time. She brought all her goodies home to show her siblings and wanted to share her pear with everyone at lunch. Everyone thanked her for their slice and she was beaming! I hope she feels the same way about going to the grocery store in 25 years!
