The End of the Road

A bittersweet event, the last Pinewood Derby in our house. Ethan has done Cub Scouts since he was in first grade making this the fifth car he has made and raced. We are big believers in letting the boys create their own car (believe me, there are sometimes more dads "racing" than the boys) and Ethan has always designed something unusual. He always wants an unusual shape, one year he had flames, one was painted two colors. His Wolf year he placed in the finals for his age but he really just has fun racing, regardless of the outcome.
This is one of those activities that I know he and Kyle will always remember doing with their Dad. Not to mention all those cars and medals on the shelf in their rooms!

At the end of the month Ethan and Bill's Den will cross over to Boy Scouts and it will truly be the end of the road!

It's always nice when boys can have that father-son bond and opportunities to do things together.

Nice car Ethan! Hope you had a great time.

I remember the one year my nephew (DB) was in cub scouts, and his mom's dad and I basically "made the car" and DB painted it. And, the day of the big race, DB had a Little League game, so U.B.(that's me) got to take the car to the races. It didn't do very good, but it was an experience.
