Erin's Preschool

A couple of weeks ago the kids and I went to Barnes and Noble to pick up some new math workbooks for the girls and to spend holiday gift cards. Erin wanted a "school book" as well so Paige helped me pick out a Preschool workbook for her. The beginning looked a little easy with color review, the girl has been coloring since before she was a year old so this was not a challenge. Well yesterday she wanted to work on her workbook and Paige and I took turns helping her. I thought this book would last part of the summer, try more like an hour. She's done with it! Paige helped her match rhyming words and opposites. I worked on letter sounds for word matching. She did coloring and patterns and that about wrapped it up. Hum what to do next?

So today I asked if she wanted to work on her handwriting for school and she went to get a pencil, guess that is a yes. I wrote out her name, address, phone number, family names, and she got to work. She started out really neatly but her hand was tired by the end! She still did a great job.

She is going to be hard to keep up with as I was also informed by her Montessori teacher last week that she is reading. I think Carole loves hunting down parents and springing this news on them. Once again I had no idea. I think I will make Ethan work with her since he did the same thing, seems fair. She loves the sentence Sam sat on cat. She thinks it is hilarious! So I will be taking a different approach to what she needs as she is absorbing everything around her from her siblings. She absolutely loves to learn and never says no to any project or lesson. I just have to use this to my advantage and plan things for her. With co-op over I hope to actually have time to do things with her again as she has been pretty much wandering around the last two months but apparently not really!
