Our seeing RED glasses!
What another fabulous weekend! I have much to share and it will take me a couple of posts. We started Saturday morning off at the art museum for First Saturday's. The project was seeing red and we made these adorably fun glasses and looked for red objects. The girls loved crafting these glasses. Paige had a bit of a challenge with using only red. It was a little stifling on her artistic ability! She does not like restrictions on her creations especially her color selections. She still had a great time and worked hard.
Bit of good news/bad news especially for my fellow museum lovers. This was the last first Saturday for the next 18 months! Good News - Columbus is getting a newly renovated, better than ever art museum. I know it is a long time coming and I am very excited for the end product but they will not be able to hold our monthly excursions. There is talk about doing some activities off site which I think would be great. I know that we did one at the Conservatory years ago.
Speaking of years ago, Ethan and I started going to this program when he turned 3 (he will be 10 this week). We started going when Lindy and Paige were a year old and I wanted to do something with Ethan since he was in the midst of a lot of diapers, crying, drooling babies. This fit the bill. He loved art and we had time together. It was on my calender every month and we rarely missed it. Nothing kept us away except for illness! The program incorporates a piece or exhibit in the museum and by the time he was six he could locate many paintings and sculptures in the galleries. All the kids have a huge appreciation for art and I credit this program for developing this. I am so sad to miss such a long time of going to this with Erin. I hope that something works out so that they are able to have some type of program occasionally. At least it will be well worth the wait!
